To advance, empower and unite the Chinese and other immigrants in Howard County by advocating for the underrepresented, leading in civic activities, promoting greater community engagement, and supporting integration into the larger community.
Family Education Program (youth internship/volunteer opportunities, tutoring services, seminars on academic achievement and career development, and mental health awareness)
Community Outreach (new residents outreach for public programs and services, cultural events, and fundraising for local charities)
Civic Engagement (advocacy on local or regional issues, services on boards or commissions, seminars on participation in the democratic process, voter's registration, and candidate forums)
Achieve Success Together is a tutoring service funded by the county government for high schoolers to assist other students on the Free and Reduced Meal (FARM) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS).
New Residents Outreach Program is a partnership with HCPSS's Office of International Student and Family Services to reach out to the new immigrant families for them to effectively learn and progress.
Mental Health Awareness Program raises mental health awareness among Asian families. Partially funded by the Horizon Foundation, this programs in aimed to support the Foundation's goals and objectives.
Advocate Diversity Celebration: CAPA is the only community advocacy organization thus far in Howard County that serves the Chinese population for community affairs. CAPA -- in partnership with Korean, Indian, Jewish, and Muslim organizations -- has successfully initiated school off days in observance for cultural or religious holidays in the Howard County Public School System.
